GOLDEN SHIP (FOLKLORE)

Golden Ship

"Lolo and Lola!" the three little children one by one reached out the hands of their grandparents as they arrived at their grandparent’s house by the beautiful Argaonon sunset. Their grandparent’s house was just a ten-minute walk from theirs. "Buyag, kadagko na ni ining mga bataa." Their Lola exclaimed as their little apo trio flocked like little chicks around their mother hen. “Salamat mga apo because you visited us here! God bless you." Their grandfather responded as he put his hand to their foreheads to mano. He blessed them as the children reached their hands as a sign of respect then followed by their grandmother.

“Lolo, Lola! Is it going to rain? Today’s the day, right?” One of the children squealed in excitement! “Yes, yes apo. Anytime now.” Their Lola replied as they each guided the three children towards their porch. “How many beans do you think we’ll get this month?” One of the children asked. “I want a new pair of slippers! Lola please?” One of them pleaded. “Ofcourse mga apo.” Their Lola smiled.

As the sky began to darken, large clouds started to move towards their small village. The Small tapping of rain shower began choreographing on their roof slowly transforming into a large pitter-patter. The Argaonon people stood at their respective porches in waiting. Puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier. The roofs of the village homes echoed with the murmurs of the rain like the smooth buzzing of drifting bees. “She’s coming!” One of the children squealed in expectation. Across the river, a fog began to brew, slowly creeping towards the water. And within the fog appeared a ship made of glinting gold.
